I could eat this stuff for every meal. Okay….I actually do..it works as breakfast, lunch, snacks or even a side dish at diner! It is definitely a whole30 and paleo breakfast staple and is a great recipe for meal prepping or cooking in bulk and than eating it throughout the week. (If it lasts that long).
I used my favorite CAST IRON SKILLET in the oven to give it that deep rich flavor. You can find it HERE.

I’m looking to buy a cast-iron skillet. Just wondering what size you would recommend? I want to make your Whole30 Breakfast Hash.

Hi Dawn! I would recommend getting lodge cast iron. I picked mine up at target and I love it, I would get the one with out the ridges for grill marks on it.

are white potatoes allowed on whole 30? I have the book and I don’t see any recipes in it that include white potatoes…. Just curious 🙂 I’m getting ready to start and I’m making meal plans for my husband and I. THANK YOU 🙂

Cast iron skillets can be bought at local hardware stores, Camping stores & Target. Wash thoroughly when you buy it and SEASON pan with a film of cooking oil all over. Put in 350 degree oven for an hour. Never put in a dishwasher. To clean, salt, drop of oil and paper towel will get out most food. Rinse out and pat dry. My grandma would put another drop of oil and finish drying in warm oven. The continued layering of oil each time will make a well seasoned pan. If you have a lot debris in pan you can put on stove with water and ‘boil it’ out. You might have to re-season with film oil & 350 oven again. Dish soap after seasoning should be avoided. Salt is antibacterial, so is a high heat. I have a 100+ year old Wagner cast iron skillet that look brand, seasoned new. It takes on a dark Patina and semi-nonstick. Try not to use acidic liquids. And if you get one that has has grill marks,by all means, don’t put a sauce in pan. I had the bright idea of making teriyaki chicken. Got nice grill marks on both sides and poured my pineapple teriyaki sauce over it in the pan. Between the acid and the sugar I made a royal mess!

Check out an antique store or thrift shop if you have one. Can often find an old seasoned one that ready to use for super cheap. As far as size goes, find one that with fit your biggest stove burner.

Well, I didn’t have the skillet, but decided to make this dish anyway on a cookie sheet. Absolutely fantastic. I can’t wait to have this for breakfast the rest of this week.
What a great, easy, tasty recipe!! Thanks for sharing!

Hi, just a little confused on your cooking instructions. Are you browning this and cooking on the stovetop for 30-40 min, or are you cooking it in the oven for 30-40 min? Just wanted to clarify. Thanks!

Hi. The recipe looks delicious. I’m wondering if you could clarify if the cook at 420 means in a skillet or in the oven? Thanks.
Joannga says
I am confused do you bake it in the skillet or put the skillet on the stove!!! Sorry just learning how to cook need more details:)
Michaela says
This looks delicious! I had a quick question before I gave it a try. The directions make it sound like the skillet goes in the oven preheated to 420 degrees to cook. Is that the case? Or are you supposed to keep it on the stove top on med-high heat?
Jami says
I was wondering what the nutrition facts were for this? I know it says it makes 4 servings, but can you break the nutrition facts down to per serving please and thank you!
