It’s pear season so with that I’d like to share a little tip for cutting into the perfect pear. I was at Costco on Saturday just about to take a look at these pears and the girl in front of me squeezes the roundest part of the pear and says “they’re not good” I bought that very same flat of pears and I can tell you they are VERY good. PEAR TIP: if you squeeze the body of the pair it will be rock hard and if you wait till its soft, it’s overripe, the trick is to press down on the flesh around the stem and feel for some give. This is the spot you should be feeling for softness. Cut into it and you will have the perfect pear.
